South Coast Builders is a family owned and operated construction company, established in Wells Maine in 2002, by Jim and his wife Erinne Brown.

Having been brought up in the trade as a 3rd generation carpenter, Jim started work full time in 1980, employed in the family business W.E. Brown and Sons.
By the late nineties, with almost twenty years of experience under his belt, Jim began laying the groundwork for what would become South Coast Builders.

In the fall of 2002 Jim and Erinne took a leap of faith and started their new venture, operating out of their home and a rented storage unit in the coastal town of Wells Maine.

With a background in finance and sales, Erinne set up and ran the day to day office operations. Jim did the estimating and the field work. A reputation for quality work and honest straight forward dealing began to develop. This reputation helped the business grow even through lean years and is still the foundation of the business today.

In 2006 the business relocated to Buxton Maine. The location was perfect, being centrally located on the border of York and Cumberland counties. The property offered the space needed to set up the office and a cabinet shop.

Today, while still involved, Erinne has stepped back from the day to day operations to pursue her interest in the real estate appraisal industry. In 2015 their daughter Amy stepped in to take over the management of the daily office operations. Jim is still active in the field, making sure the work is held to the high standards established in the beginning, while still always striving to improve the end product of each project. Today, South Coast Builders employs multiple crews made up of like-minded craftsmen who have spent their career refining their skills. Our current group of craftsmen has a combined, 300 years of experience. On average, each of our carpenters have 30 plus years in the trade. With that level of experience, you can be assured South Coast Builders is capable of handling the most complex of projects.
